A Warm Welcome From the Founding Principal

Dear Friends, A warm welcome to the One World Academy, which we hope will become the premier school in Yangon in a very short time.

You will find here a bright new building, state –of-the art facilities, well-qualified, dedicated staff and a world-class academic programme that can truly open doors to the best opportunities around the globe.

Speaking of myself, I’m no stranger to Myanmar having been Principal of Pride International School in both Yangon and Mandalay from 2013-16 when I steered it to achieve status as a Cambridge school, only the seventh to do so in the country at that time.

Originally from the UK, I was a lecturer, manager and then teacher -trainer for a cluster of UK Government colleges in Southern England, including the world-heritage city of Bath, which is now my UK base. I then moved to South East Asia in 2006 as English Language Coordinator at the famous Victoria School, where I became, and still am, a permanent resident: my last group of students gained a spectacular 97% A1/A2 in GCE O Level – and I’ll be drawing on these experiences to see how well we can build achievement at TOWA. Since then I have enjoyed success as an international school Principal in Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia.

Of course I should add that life is not just about academic grades and there is so much we can do to build confidence, empathy and a sense of purpose and responsibility amongst all in the new TOWA family through our activities on offer: we spend such a formative part of our lives in education, we ought to get the most from them/

Lastly, a strong home -school bond is vital to every top school and I hope that you will be able to come along to some of the parent information sessions that we’ll be running very soon. In the meantime, do remember that my door is open.

Thank you for putting your faith in us. Warmly as always

Robin Hamilton
